Zeta Phi Beta
OUR CHAPTER
Groundbreaking from the beginning
The Groundbreaking Gamma Alpha Omicron Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered on March 9, 2020, in State College, Pennsylvania. The chapter was established to expand Zeta Phi Beta’s presence in the State College community and provide a graduate chapter that could support both the surrounding community and the local undergraduate chapter.
Although the chapter received its charter in March 2020, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic delayed its formal chartering ceremony until June 14, 2020. That celebration became historic as the chapter’s first chartering ceremony was conducted virtually and was presided over by International Grand Basileus Valerie Hollingsworth-Baker.
Before receiving its official Greek-letter chapter name, the group operated as the “Nittany Zetas.” The name quickly became part of the chapter’s identity and continues to be used affectionately as its nickname today.

A Message from Our Chapter President
Welcome to the official website of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated‘s, Gamma Alpha Omicron Zeta Chapter affectionately known as Nittany Zetas in State College, Pennsylvania.
It is my honor and privilege to serve as President of this remarkable chapter. The Nittany Zetas chapter is built on a foundation of friendship, leadership, and a shared commitment to making an impactful difference in our community.
As a chapter of a community-conscious, action oriented organization, we strive to create an environment where every member feels valued, supported, and empowered to grow. From our support & sponsorship of the Mighty Mu Eta chapter on the campus of Pennsylvania State University; to our academic achievements and professional development, to our philanthropic efforts, community involvement, and sisterhood traditions, Nittany Zetas are proud of the many ways our members live out the values of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood.
Our chapter is more than a collection of individuals, we are a sisterhood united by purpose. We celebrate one another’s accomplishments, encourage one another through challenges, and continually seek opportunities to serve others and strengthen the communities around us.
I invite you to explore our website and learn more about our chapter, our members, our programs, and the causes that are important to us. Thank you for taking the time to visit and for your interest in the work we are privileged to do.
